This week’s answers:
1. I am 38 yrs old working woman. I am having thyroid problem for the last about 20 years and my weight is 70kg. I want to reduce wt. although my diet is not too much but …………… for the last about one year i am facing hair problem on my face i.e, towards both sides of chin a lot of hairs are there. pls suggest me how to remove these hairs. Please suggest some remedy.
Weight gain, hair growth both indicate hormonal imbalance – may be because of hypothyroidism, PCOD, or nearing menopause. You may require some medications, diet and yoga for better healing. Ayurveda and most of the other natural medical sciences recommend drumstick leaves as main diet. Some in Europe even found out that drumstick leaves soup as diet every day is effective in bringing normalcy in the hormonal function in turn helps in reducing the weight gain and unwanted hair growth.
I prescribe the following medications for a period of three to six months for complete healing. Maha Thiktakam Kashayam tablets 3 numbers twice daily before food with warm water, Loham (101) – 150 mg twice daily 5 minutes before food, Kanchanara Guggulu + Punarnava Mandooram – 2 tablets each thrice daily after food. These medication effectively address all the above problems swiftly.
Stress busting and diet play a vital role in the treatment. Hence, have personalised yoga and diet sessions for improved results. Some experts have found oil bath followed by steam bath help. I usually recommend application of Dhanvantharam Thailam all over the body (except the head) followed by warm water bath after 45 minutes to improve the blood circulation thereby to promote the healing process.
2.Dear Doctor Gowthaman, Hope you are doing well. My name is rajeev garg age 40. I am suffering from Ulcerative Colitis which is a very early stage only found near the rectum area after getting colonoscopy done. I would appreciate if you advise me medicine to be taken instead of having Mesacol supporisty everyday doctor has suggested.
Also I have got the Dexa test done which shows very poor bone density kindly advise if I can take the medicines along with UC medicines??
Thanks. I am doing good. Ulcerative colitits usually occurs as a complication of IBS, malabsorption syndrome etc. Hence as per Ayurveda both Ulcerative colitis and poor bone density are connected and the treatment protocol and medicines are same. For both conditions medicines alone not enough, I recommend to follow Ayurveda medications and therapies, yoga and well planned diet. The combination of these three can help you swiftly and permanantly.
Ayurveda medications Maha Thiktakam Gritam – 1 table spoon twice daily 10 minutes before food with 150 mg of Kaseesam (101) powder followed by warm water. Jeerakadi Lehyam 1 table spoon twice daily after food. Dadimashtaka Choornam 5 gm with buttermilk thrice daily 1 hour before food helps. Ayurveda therapies like Abhyangam, Pizichil, Navara Kizhi, Matra Vasti, Kashaya Vasti etc also help. I also suggest you to take a personalised yoga and diet session with experts. This will help you to quickly rebuild the system.
3. I am married from last 1.5 years. It seems my libido is little less, some times I am not getting full hardness. Can you suggest me some home remedy, or some Ayurveda medicine.
Yes, Home remedies would do. Take 100 ml of milk + 200 ml of water + 5 gm of fresh ginger + 2 gm of Indian Ginseng and Indian Asparagus processed and reduced to the amount of milk. Filter and take it once a day on an empty stomach. It is a very good aphrodisiac widely used across the country for rejuvenation, destressing, etc.
Medicines like Navras pak, Ajamamsa Rasayan, Amrutha Prasa gritam, Madhusnuhi Rasayanam, Labuk Kabeer (1 table spoon on an empty stomach – preferably 1 hour before food with warm milk) would boost your functions swiftly.
As a long time remedy, take oil bath with Bala Aswagandadi Thailam, Linga Vardana thailam followed by warm water bath after 45 minutes improves the blood circulation which in turn strengthens the CNS to perform well.
4. Dear Doctor Gowthaman, I heard that you talked about reducing weight last week on a tv show in the morning. I am a 40 year old male, 175 cm tall and weigh about 80 kg. My concern is about my huge abdomen and I want to reduce it definitely. Kindly let me know how to do it. I believe you said that one could reduce even 10kg in 6 months. Pl tell me the herb to be used and the way in which it should be used too. Thanking you in advance doctor.
More than a herbal usage, I suggest you to follow a holistic approach with Ayurveda, yoga and diet. It can help you keep your weight checked. Take 200 mg of Loham (101) powder thrice daily 5 minutes before food with water. This will help you burn unwanted fat and toxins from the body swiftly. Subjecting the body to regular detoxification would help. Take 3 gm of Avipattikara Choornam 1 table spoon with warm water at bed time for 3 months removes the unwanted toxins, stabilises the metabolism and in turn prevents weight gain. I recommend the one fruit before food diet which can bring your weight down swiftly.
