Ayurveda and Obesity

Obesity is not a new condition as we think. Ayurveda one of the oldest systems of medicines explains better about obesity, its pathogenesis, management, Prevention and better cure etc were elaborately described in Ayurveda. Some of the Integrative medical experts still claims that Ayurveda have better solutions than any other available solutions to prevent and tackle this problem.

I got injured while playing Volley ball and ended with a ligament tear on my left ankle. It’s been almost 7 months but still I have pain. Last week, I had an MRI Scan and found ligament tear still exists and no other issues (bone…etc). I am still playing the game (almost daily) with the pain.Is there any treatment (eg. physiotherapy) that can reduce the pain & heal the wound, apart from giving total rest to it.?

You can try wearing HIGH ANKLE BOOTS for daily use for 3 months.

I have been diagnosed to have a tennis elbow on my right arm.I do a routine gym workout of cardio and weight training under the watchful eyes of a competent trainer.Whats are the dos and donts to follow? Is their any physiotherepy I can use? I am 42 and slightly overweight.

Which is a better drug for knee pain, rejoint and joint cerin or sampure 400mg, have been suffering knee pain for2 yrs after damaging then by excessive use of treadmill. will it cure them totally, otherwise i am healthy and my age is 45 yrs old.

All drugs are similar but the longest studies have been on glucosamine and hence 1.5 gm of glucosamine a day in divided doses is the the better option. they protect the cartilage but will not cure anything permanently.

1. Dear Madam, I am suffuring from constipation & suggest give me good diet.
My weight – 67 kgs Height- 5.2 My age – 38 Years

A high fibre diet including whole grains, fruits and lots of vegetables is needed to correct constipation. Also lack of exercise and not enough intake of water can contribute to constipation. So you need to exercise at least 40 minutes a day and drink 2 glasses of water first thing in the morning and a glass before and after each meal. Avoid oily foods, nuts and high starch foods and sweets.

Hi Kalpam,

As i have discussed many time Melasma requires a integrative holistic approach with Ayurveda therapies, Yoga and diet. An holistic approach with these three yields better results. In my practice i recommend a 40 day Ayurveda pancha karma Therapy which includes internal medications and external purification therapies.

1. Dear Mrs.Radhakrishnan, I am Sathyavakesh aged 29, Architect by profession following this type diet system for past 10 months and i feel that iam healthier day by day. Please request you to give your opinion on my daily routine which i am trying to practice 100% as i mentioned.
Morning – 6 to 6.30 am yoga with empty stomach, one spoon of raw falx seeds, later 30 minutes cycling to and fro to the swimming pool, 30 minutes slow and relaxed swimming. Cup of badam milk by 8.30. Breakfast – 2 dates, 2 badam, 2 pista, 6 kishmisch, 1 small piece of wallnut and one dry fig. By 12 noon – 500ml of butter milk.
Afternoon – ( between 1- 1.30 pm ) Normal regular south indian home made cooked food with rice, etc

In Ayuvreda, this condition is named as pandu – Mal absorption syndrome. Please take the following medications

1. Indukantam Kashayam – 15 ml + 45 ml of warm milk – Twice daily 30 minutes before food

I dont know what is the problem with me but every month i find myself very depressed for 1 week. I have been noticing that this is mainly 5-10 days before my periods. I am not sure why this is so but this depression is leading to lots of issues in my personal life. I have started abusing and hitting my spouse and kid without much reasons. I keep crying and yelling at them during this time. After a week i repent for what i have done. I have been facing this issue for a long time. I get angry and break things too …

I feel very tired and cant even do household chores so was told to check my haemoglobin levels. It was 8 six months back so i started taking iron tablets. Last week i checked my iron levels and it has increased to 11.6. I even took calcium tablets for 1 month and felt that that month my depression was under control. When i asked 1 of my friends she told taking calcium without doctors prescription can lead to stone formation. Therefore i have stopped taking it now. Kindly help me solve this problem. Please let me know if this issue can be bought under control ?

Hello Lakshmi, from what you mention you seem to have Premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
You need to consult a psychiatrist in your area.
As this might be related to under-lying depression that you have.

I, Dr.Altaf Ahmed Khan,from Pakistan, wants to get your help and advice about my shoulder problem. Doctors often skip my statement about start of my problem. and this is the reason to contact you.

One night I was sleeping spreading my left hand over my shoulders..when I awaked in the morning at 4 o’clock, I didn’t feel my left hand. when I was trying to sit , MY LEFT ARM COME IN FRONT BY REVOLVING BEHIND MY BACK WITH NO SENSE OF PAIIN. since then I have a feeling of pain in my shoulders ball & socket joint. and now it is increased. one of physiotherapist has advised me to have icing tikor on the joint lining. along with this my left side muscle of the neck is also pulled last one week ago.
