What does fitness mean to you?

Fitness means weight loss for some, for others it means improved energy levels. It is true that the two complement each other and combined with healthy eating should set you on the road to good health.

All of us have our own ideas about staying fit. While some would swear by a strict diet, others would vouch for an exercise regime. Yet another group is left wondering where to begin. Getting a person who has never worked out to jog for half an hour each morning is easier said than done.

Once, the fact that exercise is the most important weight loss tool is driven home, half the job is done.  Exercise helps you maintain a healthy weight and prevents heart disease, diabetes and some forms of cancer.

Generally adults need about 30 minutes of moderate physical activity five days per week. If you walk briskly, cycle to work, iron your clothes, dance and swim, you are doing your bit.

The key is to find the right exercise for you. If it is fun, you are more likely to stay motivated. You may want to walk with a friend, join a class or plan a group bike ride.
